Calsonic is a name synonymous with Japanese motorsport. The company, originally known as Nihon Radiator, was founded in 1938 and quickly became a leading manufacturer of heat exchangers and radiators.
In the 1970s, Nihon Radiator began sponsoring race cars, and by the 1980s, the company’s blue and white Calsonic livery was one of the most recognizable in Japanese racing. Calsonic’s most successful partnership was with Nissan. The two companies teamed up in the 1980s to dominate the Japanese Touring Car Championship (JTCC) and the All Japan Sports Prototype Championship (JSPC).
Calsonic-sponsored Nissan cars won numerous races and championships in these series, and the company’s sponsorship helped to make Nissan one of the most successful Japanese automakers in motorsport.
